Background
Two Ridings Community Foundation is providing this fund to support local community groups through this unprecedented time.

 

Objectives of Fund
The focus of the fund will be to offer community organisations emergency funding to deal with emerging issues in the community as a result of the continuing threat of coronavirus.


The fund will support the following:
• Community organisations that are preparing themselves to appropriately respond and continue their work in a difficult work environment, and to tailor their specialist services to give help to the people who need it the most.
• The development of advice and support initiatives to fill gaps for people and places where there are no current suitable services.
• Groups that provide vital community support to maintain some level of viability through these uncertain times where they are experiencing a significant loss of income as a result of the current crisis.


Grants are available of up to £2,000; however, the fund has two clear streams of activity and groups can only include up to £1,000 costs under each stream. Groups can apply under either stream 1 or 2 or both streams 1 and 2.
• Stream 1 –will help with costs relating to delivery of activities and supporting beneficiaries directly - groups can include costs here of up to £1,000.
• Stream 2 – will help with an organisational running costs or overheads – groups can include costs here of up to £1,000.

Please note that this level of support is based on current funds available and may be subject to change.

 

Who Can Apply
Voluntary organisations, community groups, small charities or other not-for-profit organisations can apply.
To be eligible, groups must:
• Be based in North Yorkshire, York, East Riding of Yorkshire or Hull
• Have a management committee with at least three unrelated members
• Have a bank account in the group’s name (with two unrelated signatories)

Restrictions
The following are not eligible for funding:
• Individuals
• Private businesses
• National organisations and their affiliates
• General appeals or sponsorship
• Work normally funded from statutory sources
• Work undertaken by or on behalf of schools, colleges or universities as part of their statutory curricular activities
• Work undertaken by or on behalf of statutory bodies
• Work for the advancement of religion
• Work where the main beneficiaries are animals
• Work which does not directly benefit people living in the area of benefit.
• Overseas holidays or trips.

 

Eligible Expenditure
The funding can be used as follows:
Stream 1 for costs relating to delivery of activities and supporting beneficiaries directly. Examples of what might be included are:
• Providing telephone support as an alternative means of keeping in touch with beneficiaries.
• Volunteer/ transport costs to provide food/medicine deliveries.
• Costs of providing web based advice or activity for beneficiaries.
• Equipment to help benficiaries access web based activity
• Any initiative that will help ensure vulnerable people remain safely connected with the outside world during this time.

Stream 2 for organisational running costs or overheads. Examples of what might be included are:
• Rental costs.
• Heating, lighting, water rates.
• Stationery, small capital items, internet.
• Lap tops or other equipment to enable home working.
• Staff costs.

Applications can be made at any time and will be assessed on an ongoing basis subject to available funding. The Two Riding of Yorkshire Community Foundation aims to make decisions within two weeks of receiving a completed application.
