Latest Business Support From East Riding Of Yorkshire Council - 09/08/22

Welcome to East Riding Of Yorkshire Council latest business update.

Recovery Loan Scheme
We reported last week that the government has extended the Recovery Loan Scheme offering government-backed loans to small businesses.
Unfortunately, we were a bit quick off the mark and the government webpage is yet to be updated with details of the new scheme (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/recovery-loan-scheme). However, the British Business Bank have released further details, and are working hard to update the list of lenders which will be found on their website as they are agreed, so please keep an eye on their site:

Outdoor dining changes extended
Temporary changes brought in to help pubs, cafes and restaurants operate outside have been extended and will be made permanent in 2023. The changes make it quicker, easier and cheaper for businesses to get a licence from their local authority to serve food and drink on pavements and pedestrianised roads:

New guidance on employment status
All employers should carefully consider employment status before taking on staff or independent contractors. Employment status is relevant in all working relationships - it defines the responsibilities employers have to their staff.
For further details see the new government checklist;

ICT & Digital Support
Within the East Riding, businesses can access ICT support from our dedicated ICT Business Advisor (https://investeastriding.co.uk/business-support/), to help you access both local and national schemes such as the Help to Grow Digital Scheme.
Previously, the Help to Grow Digital Scheme was only available to businesses with more than 5 employees, but this has now been amended and the scheme can now support businesses with as few as 1 employee (up to 249 employees) by offering discounts of up to £5000 on approved software.
