Tool to help sole traders comply with tax changes
Under the basis period reform, all businesses are required to report their profits up to the end of the tax year, even if their accounting years ends at a different time. To help with this, HMRC have launched a tool that will support sole traders to complete their 2023/24 tax return.

New R&D tax relief guidance now available
From 1 April 2024, a revised scheme for research and development tax relief came into force. The new merged scheme replaces the old R&D Expenditure Credits (RDEC) and SME schemes. Revised guidance to find out if your business can claim relief on corporation tax for R&D expenditure has now been published.
