Event: Unlocking Social Investment – A Workshop for Social Enterprises

Organiser: Hull and East Yorkshire Growth Hub

Event Type: Workshop

Description:
AT The Ropewalk Maltkiln Road Barton upon Humber DN18 5JT

About this event

We keep hearing about ‘social investment’ ‘social impact bonds’ and ‘investment readiness’. But what do these terms mean? How can social enterprises and not-for-profits access these new forms of income?

As funders and the public sector move away from grant funding, it is vital that third sector organisations have access to new sources of resources. Social investment is designed to fill the gaps left in available resources and can help to fund new sources of sustainable income. This one-day workshop features contributions from a social investor, an organisation that has used social investment to grow and advice and guidance from a support organisation that has helped social enterprises raise well over £4m.

This session will cover:
- What is social investment and what is it used for?
- The pros and cons of the different types of social finance available
- How your social enterprise can become ‘Investment Ready’
- This workshop session is ideal for established social enterprises who want to explore social investment as a tool to becoming financially self-sustaining. If you are thinking of taking on an asset such as a building or need money to start a new project this workshop is for you.

Delegates will develop their understanding of social investment and how it can be used to develop an organisation. They will learn about the process of taking on investment, understand the “due diligence” process and meet the people who make the loans and people who have taken on investment.

This workshop will be delivered by Neil King of CERT CIC, a specialist social enterprise support organisation that have been supporting third sector organisations to grow and scale for over 25 years.

Light refreshments will be available on arrival, and a light buffet lunch served at the mid-way point of the workshop.

If you want to explore social investment in a relaxed atmosphere with like-minded organisations book now – places are limited and are on a “first come – first served” basis.

This workshop is tailored specifically for Social Enterprises and therefore your organisation must have one of the following legal statuses to be able to attend:
- Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable Status
- Company Limited by Guarantee with Social Objectives
- Community Interest Companies (CICs)
- Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs)
- Charitable Trusts
This workshop is fully-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and so your business does need to be registered and confirmed as eligible for our ERDF-funded Business Growth Scheme. Please check your event eligibility process below.

Join this Lunch and Learn with Julia who will demonstrate to you how you can maximise the number of eyes on your blog posts for your business. In this session, Julia will look at how you can optimise your blog so it is ranks on search engines and how you can promote your blog to reach a wider audience.

Key takeaways include:
- Understand your audience: know the challenges they will be facing and use this to identify the keywords and phrases that will help you rank in Google searches.
- Real value and ROI come from repurposing your blog into other content, PLUS ensuring you use the FREE tools available for sharing your blog with a wider audience.
- Include a call to action at the bottom of your blog, this can point to another blog or a sales page, for example. Remember, the longer you keep your audience in your presence, the longer you have to persuade them to purchase!

Please send any questions you’d like Julia to answer during the webinar to events@enterprisenation.com.
