Event: Disabled Entrepreneurs Networking
Date and time:Wed, 30 August 2023, 11:00 – 12:00
Event type:National Event
Venue:Online/Virtual
A friendly, supportive and productive monthly virtual networking meeting for entrepreneurs with any form of disability or health issues.
This is a regular opportunity to bring together business owners with any form of physical or mental health issues to network together, advise each other and build up contacts across the whole of the UK.
The monthly online networking session will feature a short 10 minute talk by a speaker with a health issue - or someone who is an advocate for those with a disability - before we go into breakout rooms so attendees can network with one another in a friendly and supportive environment.
This month’s guest speaker will be Giles Metcalfe, owner of Giles Metcalfe Digital. Giles is an Ethical Digital Marketer & Website Sustainability Consultant.
Giles will be discussing ‘Greening Your Website - understand your website’s carbon footprint and the case for lessening its impact, with the eco and business benefits.’
These virtual networking meetings are part of the FSB’s ongoing Business Without Barriers campaign which aims to encourage inclusive, supportive workplaces and offer advice for the country’s army of disabled entrepreneurs.
This free #FSBConnectOnline networking is open to all businesses - both FSB members and non-members are welcome to attend, so please feel free to share with your networks.
Please note that subtitles will automatically be enabled for this virtual networking event.
We look forward to seeing you!
Our events and activities, including those focused on a specific issue or equality characteristic, are open to all. We encourage shared learning, wider conversations, and a collective responsibility to inclusivity through allyship, where marginalised groups are supported by others.
To enable FSB to deliver a high level of customer service at our events, and to tailor the content where appropriate, we will share your full name and business name with the host of the event you have registered to attend. The event hosts are representatives of FSB who irretrievably delete your details following the event. Should you not consent your full name and business name being shared with the event host, please contact events@fsb.org.uk within three working days of the event taking place, with details of the event.

Ever wondered how certain words can boost your online presence?
In this Lunch and Learn, Gill Wilson explores the power of keywords. She will explain why keywords matter for getting noticed online, share free tools that will help you find the best keywords for your content, and show you how to use them effectively for better online results.
Gill has been making websites since the 1990s and has worked for a range of commercial, educational and third-sector companies over the years.
She currently leads a web design and maintenance company in Glasgow called Buttered Host. It provides websites and maintenance packages that help its clients gain new leads and sales. Her clients have reported increased customer engagement and sales through their Buttered Host websites, and many have expanded as a result.
