Business Updates
International Trade with Russia / Ukraine
In light of the current situation, businesses are advised to contact the government’s export support team with any questions about trade with Russia or Ukraine. Questions can be submitted either online or by telephone: https://www.gov.uk/ask-export-support-team

CE marking changed to UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking
The UKCA marking is a new UK product marking that is used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain. It covers most goods which previously required the CE marking, known as ‘new approach’ goods. The UKCA marking came into effect on 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, you will still be able to use the CE marking until 1 January 2023 in most cases: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/using-the-ukca-marking

Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme Closing
The Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme will close on the 17th March 2022. You have until the 24 March 2022 to submit any new claims for absence periods up to the 17th March, or to amend any claims you have already submitted: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-back-statutory-sick-pay-paid-to-your-employees-due-to-coronavirus-covid-19

National Insurance Contributions Increase – prepare for the Health and Social Care Levy
The Levy is effectively introduced from April 2022 when National Insurance contributions for employees under State Pension age, self-employed people and employers will increase by 1.25% and be added to the existing NHS funding allocation. SAVE THE DATE - HMP Full Sutton – Meet the Buyer Event
A ‘meet the buyer event’ is being planned for Wednesday 30th March 2022 for all interested companies to learn more about the opportunities that might be available throughout the build. The event will cover; the programme, design standards and any prequalification’s for potential suppliers. Come and hear from representatives from The Supply Chain Network, Ministry of Justice and Tier 1 contractor KIER who will share more details on the work packages spanning from ground works, data monitoring, lighting to catering and be available to answer your questions.
